DF~-12-97 FR t 13 ~ 53
SIEGf`- COMPANIES
Robert L.
a awe nvrnur - u
Phone 427.847? -
December 12, 1997
*. State of Colorado ..
Division of Minerals and Geology
Attn: Carl Mount
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Carl,
FRX N0. 303~j~; OOa
iii iiiiiiiiiiiii iii
Please make reference to our existing mining pits, M-84-079 and M-82-015. These two mining
permits are located at I-25 and.SH 1 l9, preceding north past the St. Vrain River aria then
extending downstream approximately a mile and a quarter. Over the past few years, Siegrist has
sold various partials of permitted gravel ground to third parties, and in one instance with Weld
County, the partial sold was permitted by M-82A15, to the north, and M-84-079 to the south.
The terms of the sale to Weld County required them to secure the necessary amendments to
include only the County purchase in one permit, and also correcting the remaining two permits to
reflect the sale to the County. This apparently was not completed by the County.
Recently, an additional sale of a portion of the permitted property was sold to. Varra Companies.
,~ This transaction took place in March of 1997, and ¢asically encompassed the remainder of the
permitted property under M-84-079.
We have been advised by Don Carroll of Weid County, that they must revise their special review
permits issued by Weld County, Number 636 and 489. During such review it was discovered that
the necessary corrections to the permits were not made with your department:
These correction therefore, must be made for both partials, which have been sold to third parties.
By copy of this transmittal, I am advising Weld County and Don Carroll of our communications
and their need to contact the DMG specialists. It is my understanding that once you receive this
memo, you will have Greg Squires follow through with our office as well as Weld County.
We also wish to advise that we'are continuing mining activity on the M-82-015 permit, and the
major amount of such excavation has been completed. We have started the process of allowing
the natural waters to fill two of the three lakes, and we request that your representatives schedule
an on-site review for approval. l'hrr representative will either be the undersigned or Rick Chek,
who may be contacted through our Denver office number. Possibly in order to better understand
w
