This letter outlines Cemex's plan to perform
that testing.
In 1999, Southdown, Inc. (Cemex's predecessor) extensively tested the CKD. The
analyte list from that testing is attached. It proposed that this list of analytes be repeated
on two samples, one sample taken just before the test fire bum and one sample taken
towards the end of the test fire burn. This will provide three sets of laboratory results
over a period of time for comparison purposes.
Concerning soluble organics, we propose to analyze for total organic carbon (TOC). If
there is a TOC detection in the fire bum sample we will then analyze the CKD for the
following:
Volatile Organic Compounds (8260)
Semivolatile Organics (8270)
PCB (8082)
vve wiif requesi that laboratory determine Tentaiiveiy identified Compounds (TIC: s).
Please let me know as soon as possible if this is acceptable.
S' rely,
Paul Banks
PB/kj
Cc: Erica Crosby, DMG
Steve Mossberg, Cemex
Attachment
Cemex, Inc.LKD Testing-02053
Correspondence
