The access road from Hwy. 40, south across Section 14 and the Yampa
River bridge to the shop area is the only all weather access to Coal View gulch
and Grassy Creek Coal Company land. The road is used on a weekly basis.
2. The shop building parking area is littered with miscellaneous iron and junk.
There isn't any space left for the grass. Heavy equipment including tractors use
the area weekly.
3. In an effort to reduce the width of the Haul Road, Sun Coal removed the
Gravel, scarfired the surface, topsoiled, fertilized and drill seeded numerous
areas (Map 8) along the haul road. A number of the areas were protected with a
battery powered fence. None of the areas survived the owners dozer or
overgrazing.
The landowner has had the haul road since the bond was released March 4, 1989.
Compare the pictures and video tape of the haul road from August, 1988 to its
present condition.
If you need additional information, call me.
Sincerely,
ryan .Archer
Manager, Sun Coal Company
