will remain in force until reclamation is completed and approved
by CMLR and BLM.
Drill pads are to be located in flat areas, generally. No exten-
sive excavation is anticipated. Topsoil, if salvable, will be
scraped from the surface and stockpiled away from activities for
later use during reclamation. A water pi[ will be constructed at
each site. The bottom of each pit will be lined with plastic if
the underlying soil seems permeable.
It is intended that this program do as little permanent damage as
possible to the environment. Care will be taken to avoid vegeta-
tion and wildlife as much as possible. Existing roads and trails
will be used whenever possible.
In the process of drilling, care will be taken to avoid spillage
from water pits. Water injection systems will be used to control
dust. Equipment will be periodically checked for oil and fuel
leaks. Garbage will be carried from the site. No fires will be
permitted. All contractors will be expected to carry fire exting-
uishers and proper fire-preventing devices.
Movement of mechanized equipment will be held to a minimum during
periods of adverse weather and ground conditions to prevent unnec-
cessary surface disturbance.
Reclamation will be done by a crawler-type bulldozer. The blade
of the bulldozer will be used for movement of topsoil and earth
for backfilling and recontouring. The ripper will be used to
loosen up compacted earth on roads or drill pads to facilitate
growth of new vegetation.
Water pits on drill pads will be filled with drill tailings or
available soil and mounded somewhat for settlement. Remaining tail-
ings will be spread thinly over the pad area so as to permit revege-
