June 14, 1985 <br />PROPOSED DECISION <br />WEST ELK COAL COAL COMPANY <br />Mt Gunnison No. 1 Mine <br />The Colorado Division of Mined Land Reclamation proposes to approve with <br />stipulations an application for a permit revision to include 320 acres of <br />underground reserves for West Elk Coal Company's (WECC) Mt. Gunnison No. 1 <br />Mine. The additional reserves are within the N. Fork of the Gunnison River <br />drainage basin and will enable WECC to conduct detailed subsidence studies. <br />This approval decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will <br />comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation <br />Act, C.R.S. 1973 34-33-TO1 et. seq., and the Rules promulgated thereunder. <br />The finding of compliance, and the stipulations which are a part of this <br />approval, are attached to this document. <br />The permit cannot be issued until all statutory notice and pubic comment <br />requirements have been satisfied. <br />
