999
COLORADO WESTMORELAND INC.
P. O. Box E. Paonla, Colorado 61428 ❑ 303-527-4135
August 5, 1982 RF,CEIVED
Ms. Sandra Emrich
Colorado Mined Lands Reclamation Division g, rs 9 1982
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street MINED LAND RECLAMATION
Denver, Colorado 80203 ;olo. Dept. of Natural Resources
Dear Sandy:
Enclosed is the surface landowner's consent for the sewage water
holding pond area. The landowner, Bureau of Land Management, has granted
use by issuing this Temporary Use Permit Modification. Construction of
the pond began July 29, 1982, and certification of a Professional Engineer
will be forwarded to you within 30 days of the pond completion.
Due to the late date on which surface landowner's consent was given,
a request to extend the due date for the cleaning of Pond #3 has been sub-
mitted. Pond #4 is directly nced by the draining schedule of pond
#3; therefore, Colorado Westmoreland Inc. (CWI) requests an extension for
the draining and repair of Pond #4 from August 15, 1982 to September 3,
1982.
A $5,000 statewide surety bond for prospecting operations was filed
on May 20, 1977. This bond (#2586589) is to ensure that the exploration
sites will be satisfactorily reclaimed. CWI would like the Division to
inspect the drilling sites located in T 13S R92 W of the 6th P.M. to veri-
fy the success of reclamation allowing CWI to release this bond. There
were no specific drill site locations delineated in this bond; therefore,
the 27 past sites located in the previously mentioned area should be in-
spected, excluding the present operations which are covered under a new
bond. Please notify me as to a date this inspection would be convenient
for you.
CWI will be contracting GEO-HYDRO this month to install stability
monitoring units at 12 sites delineated in their instrumentation report
submitted to the Division on July 29, 1982. The monitoring and interpre-
tation of the data from the inclinometer and pore water pressure devices
will be done monthly the first year by GEO-HYDRO. Surface features will
be visually inspected by CWI staff. GEO-HYDRO will also begin Phase 3 of
the stability studies, the waste pile design, this month.
SUBSIDIARY OF
WESTMORELAN❑
COAL COMPANY
