III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
9~
Cap Allen Engineering
145 East 13th Street • Durango, Colorado 81 301-51 30
Kevin Martinez
Blue Flame Mine
James Pendleton
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board
REF: BLUE FLAME MINE RETENTION POND REPAIR
(303) 247.0088
~~~~~~~®
OCT 1 2 1990
Mined Land
Reclamation Division
At the request of Kevin Martinez, I have prepared plans showing modifications to the
existing Blue Flame retention pond that will bring the outside berm slope into conformance
with the 3:1 slope regulations and the width of the top berm in conformance as well.
Because the pond as built is substantially bigger than needed, the pond can be cut down, as
much as 2S feet in places, allowing for a broader base. There will still be a problem of
encroachment along the access road near the outlet pipe.
I have used the topo survey provided by MLRB of the pond plus my own field gathered
information to provide a base map. The map shows existing volumes at one foot intervals.
By cutting the spillway elevation from 8002.25 to 8000, the volume is still in excess of that
required for retention.
I would appreciate any feedback to know if this modification is acceptable to you both prior
to b~ginni construction.
`~ ou,
Cap Allen
10/3/90
