The results of the first
three large-scale interface shear test were discussed and presented
in Golder Associates Inc.'s (Golder) October 10, 1994 letter to
Pikes Peak Mining Company (PPMC). Briefly, the testing was
performed to quantify the effect of the Carlton mill tailings and
Goldstar tailings that have been placed on the surface of the
prepared Ironclad tailings (soil liner) to provide a smoother
interface prior to geomembrane liner placement.
The sample selection and testing procedure were described in the
October 10 letter. That same selection process and testing
procedures were followed for this fourth test and a discussion will
not be repeated in this correspondence.
Results obtained from the previous three large-scale tests and the
fourth large-scale are presented in the following table.
Configuration Peak Int.
