The pumping rates from the mine indicate
mine inflows of 3 to 3.5 gals./minute inflow.
Consumptive uses at the minesite are: dust suppression, evap-
oration, and bathhouse.
1. Dust suppression: The equilibrium moisture of the
coal is 4.4%, and the moisture of the coal being ship-
ped is averaging 7%. This results in 2.6/ water being
added to the coal for dust suppression. This results
in 7.2 gallons of water per ton leaving the property
or being lost to the drainage in the area. At maximum
production, this would be approximately 180 gals./hour.
Current production levels of 200 tons/day results in
approximately 22 gals./day consumptive use for dust
suppression.
2. Evaporation: The sediment ponds are small resulting
in minimal amounts of water being lost to evaporation.
3. Bathhouse: The employment level at the present time
is 5. The showers use approximately four gallons per
minute. This results in approximately 300 gallons
per day of water used for showers. At maximum pro-
duction levels of 200,000 tons/year, the employment
level will be 45 resulting in approximately 2,700
gallons/day used in the showers. Consumptive use of
30J results in 810 gallons per day being lost to the
drainage.
