Appendix A
Plan of Operations - Addendum
The reclamation of the Joanne claims sandstone quarry is scheduled to be
accomplished as follows:
1. At the completion of mining, the quarry configuration will be
approximately ae shown on Drawing bcc-1368a, Attachment ~2. RouSih
grading will be done ae part of quarry operation by standard quarry
equipment, ie., D-8, and D-10 bulldozers. Grading will be left Lough
eo that the reclaimed quarry will blend with the natural Dakota
Hogback. Rough grading will include water bare to prevent erosion down
access road.
2. Topsoil presently stockpiled at the north side of the quarry will be
spread over the area to be reclaimed as part of quarry operation by use
of regular quarry equipment, which at the present time would be a
caterpillar 623 scraper. Any other topsoil that ie encountered in the
mining operation will also be preserved for the reclamation.
3. Seed bed preparation will consist of loosening the topsoil, and
fertilizing either with commercial fertilizer at a rate of 26 lb. per
acre, or, preferably, composted manure at the rate of 2 T. per acre.
Fertilizer choice will be dictated by availability and method of
seeding.
4. The seed mix recommended by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service fo.r this
Bite is as follows:
Little Bluestem pastura 26~
Side oats Grams grenville 258
Switchgraee grenville 20B
Yellow Indian Grass llano 158
Western Wheatgrass ariba 158
The recommended seeding rate is 4.5 16. live seed per acre. The Heed
will be planted either by drill, or by hydroseeding, depending upon
surface conditions.
5. Mulch will be dependent upon the method of seeding.
if hydroseeded, mulch will be wood fibre applied at the rate of
2000 lb. per acre.
If drilling, mulch will be native hay, if available, or straw
applied at the rate of 3000 lb. per acre. This mulch will be
crimped to minimize wind loss.
6. Coat estimate:
Drilling Hvdroseedino
Seed $23.00/acre $23.00/acre
Fertilizer 30.00/acre 30.00/acre
Equipment & Labor 650.00/acre 1000.00/acre
Total (Approx. 10 acres) $7,030.00 $10,530.00
7. Reclamation results will be monitored for 5 years and repeated if
necessary.
