<br />Appendix A <br />Plan of Operations - Addendum <br />The reclamation of the Joanne claims sandstone quarry is scheduled to be <br />accomplished as follows: <br />1. At the completion of mining, the quarry configuration will be <br />approximately ae shown on Drawing bcc-1368a, Attachment ~2. RouSih <br />grading will be done ae part of quarry operation by standard quarry <br />equipment, ie., D-8, and D-10 bulldozers. Grading will be left Lough <br />eo that the reclaimed quarry will blend with the natural Dakota <br />Hogback. Rough grading will include water bare to prevent erosion down <br />access road. <br />2. Topsoil presently stockpiled at the north side of the quarry will be <br />spread over the area to be reclaimed as part of quarry operation by use <br />of regular quarry equipment, which at the present time would be a <br />caterpillar 623 scraper. Any other topsoil that ie encountered in the <br />mining operation will also be preserved for the reclamation. <br />3. Seed bed preparation will consist of loosening the topsoil, and <br />fertilizing either with commercial fertilizer at a rate of 26 lb. per <br />acre, or, preferably, composted manure at the rate of 2 T. per acre. <br />Fertilizer choice will be dictated by availability and method of <br />seeding. <br />4. The seed mix recommended by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service fo.r this <br />Bite is as follows: <br />Little Bluestem pastura 26~ <br />Side oats Grams grenville 258 <br />Switchgraee grenville 20B <br />Yellow Indian Grass llano 158 <br />Western Wheatgrass ariba 158 <br />The recommended seeding rate is 4.5 16. live seed per acre. The Heed <br />will be planted either by drill, or by hydroseeding, depending upon <br />surface conditions. <br />5. Mulch will be dependent upon the method of seeding. <br />if hydroseeded, mulch will be wood fibre applied at the rate of <br />2000 lb. per acre. <br />If drilling, mulch will be native hay, if available, or straw <br />applied at the rate of 3000 lb. per acre. This mulch will be <br />crimped to minimize wind loss. <br />6. Coat estimate: <br />Drilling Hvdroseedino <br />Seed $23.00/acre $23.00/acre <br />Fertilizer 30.00/acre 30.00/acre <br />Equipment & Labor 650.00/acre 1000.00/acre <br />Total (Approx. 10 acres) $7,030.00 $10,530.00 <br />7. Reclamation results will be monitored for 5 years and repeated if <br />necessary. <br />
