Box 1821
Colorado Springs, Colorado 80901
Re: Information Request About
the Orphan Pit
Dear Dr. Corley:
Enclosed are the documents that you requested regarding the Division's
original observation of afire in the underground development waste pile
adjacent to Newlin Creek's portal and Division's cautions about the process
of moving the waste. Please note, the technical revision to deposit under-
ground development waste material within GEC's permit area was approved
on September 8, 1981. Also, during the flovember 19, 1982 inspection Newlin
Creek committed to filling specific smoke vents that have subsequently
been disturbed by the GEC's trenching operation.
In the past the Division has supplied copies of inspection reports and other
letters to you with no charge. Unfortunately due to budgetary constraints
these can no longer be supplied free of charge. l~le will need to charge 25¢
per page for future requests. Of course, these documents are available in
our office for you to review during regular office hours.
Sincerely,
/`
~/ ~ ,
Carol Russell
Reclamation Specialist
CR/mob
Enclosure
^~~ C(`I IICpll hBl III IIr~l ll (I, 111.1 `~h~~n nnn .'stn„•I IL~nvc r. l:nn r;u l~~ f111, 41"{ 1,~1 f'in'd nGl; '1Sf i
