Doc Date:12/11/2001 III I III II I II IIII III <br />sss <br />CHRONOLOGY <br />• West Elk Mine <br />Federal Lease COC-56447 <br />Mining Plan Decision Document <br />DATE EVENT <br />Mazch 2, 1998 Mountain Coal Company (MCC) submitted the permit application <br />package (PAP) under the approved Colorado State Program to the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) for a permit revision <br />for the West Elk Mine. <br />March 11, 1998 DMG determined that the PAP was administratively complete for public <br />review and comment. <br />Mazch 18, 1998 The State Historic Preservation Office provided its comments on the <br />mining plan. <br />March 23, 1998 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) <br />received the PAP, <br />April 15, 1998 MCC published in the Delta County Independent the fourth consecutive <br />weekly notice that its complete PAP was filed with DMG. <br />December 10, 1999 The Bureau of Land Management provided its findings and <br />recommendations on the approval of the mining plan. <br />January 6, 2000 The Federal land management agency (USFS) provided its final <br />concurrence with the approval of the mining plan. <br />January 25, 2000 DMG approved the PAP. <br />March 14, 2000 OSM has determined that no effect will occur to threatened or endangered <br />species <br />April 6, 2000 OSM's Western Regional Coordinating Center recommended to the <br />Director, OSM, that the mining plan action be approved. <br /> <br />
