-1- <br />INTRODUCTION <br />This document is the approval package prepared by the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division (the Division) for the Munger Canyon Mine, a federal coal <br />mine located in Garfield County. The package contains three parts. These <br />include: 1) the proposed decision to approve the permit application; 2) a <br />summary which includes; a description of the history of the review of the <br />permit application, a description on the environment affected by the mining <br />operation and description of the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the <br />Division's written findings of compliance required by the Colorado Surface <br />Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information about the review process <br />can be found in the Act and the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. All Rules referenced in this document are <br />contained within those Regulations. Detailed information about the proposed <br />mining and reclamation operation can be found in the permit application on <br />file (No. C-020-81) in the public record maintained by the Division and at the <br />County Clerk's Office for Garfield County located at the Garfield County <br />Courthouse in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. <br />Appropriate sections of this findings document have been revised to reflect <br />the addition to the mining operation of a central facilities area, coal <br />processing waste disposal area, and interconnecting road and conveyor system. <br />
