During
the near future, the Bear Coal Company plans to place large riprap
material on the slopes of the east bridge buttress to protect the
bridge during times of high flows of the North Fork of the Gunnison
River. The large riprap material will consist of large sandstone
boulders which are present on site. Placement of the material will be
by backhoe from the existing access road. No additional area will be
disturbed during selection of tfre riprap material or by placement of
the material. This work is only required as general maintenance to
ensure that the bridge will remain in a good stable condition and to
prevent erosion of the buttress and subsequent damage to the bridge.
The attached figure shows the planned placement of the riprap material
on the east buttress.
Please review this plan and contact Craig Springer or me with any
questions you may have.
Sincerely,
ACZ INC.
~~~,~~
Eldon D.
