Mrs. Dora Mae Trampe
Page Three
Apri 116, 1981
• The Market Value of Agricultural Products Sold in Delta County - on
Page 5 of the assessment, data from the 1974 Census of Agriculture are
used concerning the market value of agricultural products sold ($19
million). This section will be revised to use the most recent data (1978
Census of Agriculture and the 1980 Colorado Agricultural Statistics).
The 1978 Census indicates a market value sold of nearly $20.5 million.
This change does not affect the implicgtions drawn on Page 7 comparing
the greater importance of the coal industry vis-a-vis agriculture in the
area in dollor terms.
• Post 1977 Characterizations - On Page 15, the discussion indicates that
in-migrants and the unemp oyed were the major source of labor for post-
1977 growth. It is possible that the unemployed were recent in-migrants
as suggested by Delta County. Labor force data do not indicate the
length of residence of the unemployed, However, the document will be
revised to reflect this possibility.
• Proliferation of Water Companies - The references to well drilling on
Pages 18 and 50 wi be rep aced with a discussion of private water
companies.
• Existing Conditions in Municipalities - Table II-8 on Page 19 will be
changed to reflect that: Paonia does not require one (1) police officer;
the clinic in Hotchkiss is only part-time; the Hotchkiss fire engine has
been purchased; Hotchkiss has a library; the condition of the existing
Crawford septic tank system and the sewer system under consfruction;
Delta City's water tank does not leak (also Page 22); the inclusion of
the mental health program; and That the hospital expansion program is
complete.
• Delta City Sewer Odor Problem - On Page 21, the discussion on the
odor prob em wi e e iminated since steps have been taken to elim-
inate the problem.
• Delta City Road Collector System - On Page 22, the discussion of the
plan to improve the col ector system will be modified to indicate the
program is now complete.
• Public Service Communications System - The discussions of fire and
po ice protection page 23 wi be expanded to include the communi-
cations problem in the valley due to the terrain of the area.
• Mine Training Center -The discussion concerning vocational education
age wi a expanded to include the funding of the Mine Training
Center at Hotchkiss.
