Carol P.ussell
-2- March 17, 1982
Subsidence of the augered area is vnlil:ely to occur due to Limited thickness
of the coal seams being augered, as long as adequate rib thickness are
maintained. If subsidence were to occur, no structures or renewable resource
lands exist e,~ithin the potentially affected areas. Further, insufficient
watershed drainage areas exist upslope from the augered areas to contribute
significant surface water infiltration. Failing the presence of ~•-
increased water infiltration it is unliF:ely that ground water quality or
bacY.fill stability problems eoould occur.
7n light of these facts and conclusions, Z find the proposed augering plans
to be in conformance with the requirements of Rule 4.23, with the imposition
of the above-referenced stipulation regarding rib thic7:nesses between
avoered holes.
/mt
cc: Ed Bischoff
David Shelton
