We own approximately 345 acres of property East of and bordering the above mention Gravel Pit. We own 225 acres in the S1/2 of the SWl/4 of Section 4 and the N 1/2 of the NW 1/4 and the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 9, T6 N, R90W of the 6th P_M. and another 120 acres in the SE1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 5 and the E1/2 of the NEI/4 of Section 8, T6N, R90W of the 6th P.M., Moffat i Coumy, Colorado. Last year during high water, we were damaged considerably by the river being backed up by the enormously tall berms that were erected prior to the flood stage of the Yampa River. We lost over 20 feet of bank (hay meadow, topsoil and pasture) for the two miles of river bank along the North and South sides, along with rip rap, trees and fencing. The river was backed up past ora property on up to Mr. & Mrs. Ence's property to the East. This pressure caused the river m cut through a slough and run white water, washing out more pasture, hay meadow, soil and fencing. The water came within 30 feet of the farm house on the East and our permanent residence to the West. lour residence on the Westerly edge of our property and South East of the above mentioned pit, has been protected by massive rip rapping of the river bank at our expense. The rip rap is about to give away and has given away in many areas due to last years flooding. if the water would cut behind this weakened rip rap, the rivet will hit our home with a vengeance and shoot straight across to the runway of the Regional Airport and ultimately take out the Yampa Vallry Golf ` Course.
