Shelton MIN ED LAND <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division RECLAMATION DIVISION <br />423 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Subject: Permit Stipulation No. 4 Response Roadside and Cameo No. 1 Mines Permit <br />No. C-041-81 <br />Dear Mr. Shelton <br />As revised May 26, 1985, pursuant to the approval of the Cameo Refuse Disposal Area <br />Nos. 2 and 3 permit revision request, Powderhorn Coal Company is submitting the <br />referenced response proposing revegetation success criteria for woody plant density <br />and species diversity. <br />Powderhorn Coal Company has identified three distinctly different shrublands that <br />occur in the disturbed areas of the Roadside and Cameo No. 1 Mines. The shrublands <br />are more accurately described in Appendix SS, Baseline Vegetation Survey in the <br />permit application. <br />Shrub diversities and heights have been identified for each of the study areas in <br />the baseline vegetation survey. The following woody plant densities are proposed <br />for the different shrublands being re-established on reclaimed areas designated as <br />Greasewood/Shadscale Shrubland, Shadscale Shrubland or Greasewood Shrubland. <br />~p Greasewood Shrubland Woody Plant Density <br />Qf-~ One thousand plants (stems) per acre consisting of black greasewood ~d~I ~S <br />(Sarcobatus vermiculatus) and rubber rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus I ~ <br />nauseosus). <br />Shadscale Shrubland Woody Plant Density <br />B~ Eight Hundred Plants (stems) per acre consisting of Shadscale (Atripl x <br />confertifolia). ~ ~ /'1 a~^^tbd"( J,Ir~~ <br />Greasewood/Shadscale Shrubland Woody Plant Density <br />~- One thousand plants (stems per acre consisting of black greasewood <br />(Sarcobatus vermiculatus), Shadscale (Atriplex confertifolia) broom <br />snakeweed (Gutierrezia sarothrae). <br />POWDERHORN COAL COMPANY • P.O.
