Lamm
Governor
RE: Impact of Peabody Coal Co. haul road upon Yampa Valley Regional Airport
I hope these crude sketches will assist in the analysis of any impacts of
the proposed haul road upon aeronautical operations at the Hayden-Yampa
Valley Airport. Each sketch overlays the Mount Harris 7.5 minute quad, a
copy of which is also enclosed.
A brief description of the figure follows:
#1 - the existing airport complex
#la- proposed haul road easement corridor
#2 - existing visual approach surfaces; there seems to be
no adverse impact upon the current air space surfaces
from the siting of the road
#3 - precision instrument approach surfaces assuming navi-
gation facilities upgrade; altkiotigh the haul road
would be located under the approach slope, its eleva-
tion would appear to be less than the maximum allowable
height at all points assuming the tallest vehicle to be
using the road is less than 12 feet high
#4 - precision instrument approach surfaces to ultimate run-
way following 2200 feet extension; again the proposed
road falls below the maximum allowable height as de-
fined by the approach surface; a slight concern is the
apparent proximity of the easement to the "clear zone";
this area underlies the approach surface, at ground level
and is to be free and clear of any obstacles, thus the
haul road would pose an incompatible land usage with the
clear zone.
2 appreciate the opportunity to assist you with this matter and hope you'll
feel free to contact me should future needs arise.
DM/vt
Enclosure
1373 Sherman Street, Room 520, Denver, Colorado 80203 (303) 866-2156
