These stations will be installed and surveyed at least three
months prior to mining, and will be surveyed quarterly after
mining. Monitoring of subsidence stations will continue as
long as subsidence may be expected, and will be discontinued
only with Division approval.
Monitoring points
Third North panel
Trinidad (formerly
and the Purgatoire
in March 1988, and
occurred under the
movement.
were established perpendicular to the
prior to the panel advancing under the
Colorado and Wyoming) Railroad trackage
River. These stations were established
have been surveyed quarterly since mining
area. They have shown no discernable
Subsidence resulting from Longwall Mining is considered a
form of controlled subsidence. Basin Resources established
monitoring stations on the first longwall panel north of Che
Purgatoire River to help evaluated the effects of controlled
subsidence. Control points were established both parallel
and perpendicular to the panel. These points were located
such that at least one of the stations would be expected to
lie outside the anticipated maximum angle of draw typically
encountered at mines in the Western United States. These
points were surveyed prior to mining and weekly while
mining was proceeding under these stations. These
stations will be surveyed quarterly while longwall mining is
occurring in the adjacent panel.
Additional stations will be established over the NW#2
longwall panel to monitor subsidence and further define the
angle of draw. The proposed locations of these stations are
shown on Map 17.
Survey stations will also be established at all structures
located within the projected longwall subsidence trough to
adequately determine the effects of subsidence. In
addition, a supplemental quarterly visual inspection of each
structure will be completed. This monitoring will be
completed quarterly and reported to the Division semi-
annually. Monitoring of structures will continue as long as
subsidence may be expected, and will be discontinued only
with Division approval.
No structures, other than roads, culverts, and stock ponds
are located over areas of projected longwall mining at the
Golden Eagle Mine during the next permit term. Monitoring
and control plans will be submitted for any new structures
on a case by case basis.
2.05-55
(Revised OS-18-94)
