L MINC <br />4.5.6 ReveRetation Maintenance <br />• <br />October, 1979 <br />Revised January 30, 1981 <br />Revised March, 1981 <br />Revised October 29, 1981 <br />Soil erosion may be controlled though the use of mulch, matting, chemical <br />stabilizers, or other appropriate techniques. Gullies will be filled and stabilized. <br />During revegetation maintenance activities will be conducted parallel to the <br />contour unless such activities prove hazardous to equipment and/or operators then <br />grading will be done by working upslopes or diagonally across the slope. Mulch will <br />be used where needed after planting to control erosion until vegetation is <br />established. <br />Bare patches of failed planting will be prepared and replanted. Where there is <br />evidence of poor soil conditions, the area will be retreated or the topsoil replaced <br />as conditions dictate. <br />Attempts will be made to control noxious weeds during reclaration by mowing or <br />other appropriate methods approved by the Division. <br />4.5.6.1 Riparian Areas <br />Certain facilities will be constructed within the riparian buffer zone identified in <br />Section 3 of this M&R Plan. Sucli facilities include the water intake gallery, <br />sedirnent pond overflow ditches, railroad siding, and railroad loadout facility. The <br />reclamation methods described in Section 4.5.2. will be used to revegetate <br />disturbances within the riparian butter zone with the following exception: <br />.~ <br />..i <br />4-2ra <br />
