Dan and Bernard Knott
Knott Land and Livestock Company, Inc.
Star Route
Oak Creek, CO 80467
July 13, 2002
Greg Lewicki
Greg Lewicki and Associates
1645 Court Place Suite 309
Denver, Colorado 80202
Dear Greg:
RECEIVED
AUG 0 ~~2002
Diriaion of Minerals and GeWogy
As owner of the surface area of the reclaimed Apex #2 Mine, I recently expressed Knott
Land and Livestock Company, Ines support for the proposed change to the species
diversity standard, as outlined below:
Using relative cover or production values for each species, the reclaimed areas will have
at least 3 perennial species with relative importance equal to or greater than 3%, but with
all species combined not to exceed 92% in relative importance. Any one of the 3 species
cannot exceed 68% in relative importance.
In view of the drought conditions that can appear on the site in certain years, I believe that
it would still be acceptable if the diversity standard allowed any one species up to 70%
relative importance.
Bernard Knott
