Introduction <br />This document has been prepared in regard to a Permit Revision application <br />(PR-04) submitted by Kaiser Steel Resources, Inc. (KSR) on August 6, 1991. <br />The mine is located on federal and private lands within Archuleta County, <br />Colorado. The legal description of the lands included within the permit area <br />is: <br />SE 1/4 NE 1/4, SW 1/4 NE 1/4, NW 1/4 SE 1/4, NE 1/4 SE 1/4, NE 1/4 <br />NE 1/4 SW 1/4, NE 1/4 SE 1/4 North of Highway 151, of Section 30, and <br />W 1/2 W 1/2 SW 1/4 NW 1/4, W 1/2 W 1/2 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 of Section 29, all <br />within Township 34N, Range 4W, New Mexico Prime Meridian. <br />This revision combines ail previous mining permit and technical revisions into <br />a concise, stand-alone reclamation only permit document. <br />Due to the absence of additional surface disturbance and relatively minor <br />impacts of the proposed revision on the approved mining and reclamation plan, <br />many sections of the Division's February 1988 Findings of Compliance for the <br />Chimney Rock Mine permit renewal are not changed as a result of proposed <br />PR-04. Where sections of the February 1988 Findings (Permit Renewal) document <br />have not been affected by this proposed revision, the reader will be referred <br />to that document. This Findings Document contains or references the following: <br />A summary which includes a description of the Division's review process; <br />2. A description of the existing environmental conditions; <br />3. A description of the operation and reclamation plan; <br />4. The written findings of compliance that the Division is required to make <br />pursuant to the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. <br />Copies of the application for Permit Revision 04 are on file at the Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado and at <br />the Archuleta County Courthouse, Pagosa Springs, Colorado. <br />
