<br /> <br />3 <br />2. When the embankment is raised, a larger decant pipe should <br />be installed. A 2-inch pipe is not capable of safely passing the <br />quantity of water that could be expected during a design storm. <br />If the Company can not spill any of the water in the pond, <br />adequate freeboard should be provided to contain the runoff from <br />the design storm. <br />3. The tears in the lining system should be repaired before the <br />embankment is raised. If the embankment is raised first, the <br />water Level may rise and the holes will become inaccessible. <br />4. Since space is not a problem and constriction material is <br />abundant, it would be advisable to widen the crest to more than <br />9-feet when the embankment is raised. This will increase the <br />stability of the structure and reduce the potential effects of <br />erosion on the downstream face of the embankment. Flattening the <br />slopes is always advisable if material is available.
