• ~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
October 8, 1980
Mr. Jim Herron
State of Colorado
Department of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation
723 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Jim:
~- .:..~
.1980
f:•:... .. ~ ~~~ .ilOiJ
GEX Colorado Inc. (GEX) has been awarded a grant from the Bureau of
Mines to do a "Detailed Design and Demonstration of Underground Disposal
of Coal Mining Wastes". In response to our telephone conversation of
September 29, 1980, it is my understanding that the technical revisions
approved on October 24, 1979 are sufficient for this grant.
The technical revisions submitted earlier planned for the back-filling
to be done through bore holes on the surface. The back-filling or disposal
will be done exclusively by piping the waste through GEX's portals to
the filling section; therefore, no surface disturbance will be
encountered as was the case earlier this year.
As you requested, a discussion of this project will be included in the
"permanent program" that GEX will be submitting.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at 464-7951,
Extension 207.
Sincerely,
~~ 9. ~ ~
Michael J.
