assumption that the standard was met is still valid based on statistical tests as discussed
in Section 6.0. Table 4 was generated using the formulas and statistical values
outlined in the 1995 CDMG Bond Release Guideline.
5.6 Plant Species I?iversity
General plant species diversity was derived from the 1996 cover data by
totaling the number of individual species recorded. Plant species were grouped
according to life-form and the 1996 results are included in Table 5. All of the
reference areas except for the Sagebrush type were slightly greater in diversity than
the reclaimed area. All of the study areas were dominated by perennial grasses and
forts. Lists of species observed in the reference azea samples aze included in
Appendix A, Part I. All plant species observed on the reclaimed azea, including those
recorded in the samples and other species observed during the course of field work,
aze listed in Appendix A, Part II.
Table 6 shows the 1980 plant species diversity for the affected premise
vegetation types and the 1996 data for the reclaimed azea. Only two of the premise
types (Chokecherry and Oak Brush) showed species diversity Beater than that of the
reclamation azea. The other two areas showed that the species diversity was equal to
or slightly lower than that of the reclaimed area.
Both Tables 5 and 6 demopstrate that a good diversity of plant species has been
established on the reclaimed area. The reclamation is dominated by perennial grasses
which made up the greatest percentage of the seed mixtures. None of the perennial
12
