• UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR <br />BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT <br />UNCOMPAHGRE BASIN RESOURCE AREA OFFICE <br />2505 SOUTH TOWNSEND <br />MONTROSE, COLORADO 81401 <br />98_~ ~ <br />~~- p6 <br />Memorandum <br />October 19, 1998 <br />In Reply Refer To: <br />CO-034 <br />3480 <br />COC 60941 <br />To: Larry Kline, Project Manager, Federal Programs Division, Western Support <br />Center, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement. <br />From: Uncompahgre Resource Area Manager <br />• Subject: R2P2 Review and Approval for the King Coal Mine, La Plata County, <br />Colorado -Addition of Lease COC 60941. <br />Our Uncompahgre Basin Resource Area Office, Branch of Solid Minerals has reviewed the <br />Resource Recovery and Protection Plan (R2P2) part of the mining permit for National King <br />Coal's (NKC) addition of the lease COC 60941 at the King Mine. <br />We have determined that the mining plan and the proposed operations will comply with the <br />Mineral Leasing Act of 1920, as amended, all applicable requirements of both 43 CFR Subpart <br />3480 and the conditions and special stipulations of the federal lease involved. Based on the <br />review of the R2]?2, I find that maximum economic recovery of the federal coal within federal <br />leases COC 60941 will be achieved. <br />If you have any questions, please call Desty Dyer at 970-240-5302. <br /> <br />• CC: Tom Bird, National King Coal, LLC <br />
