Box 1821 <br />Colorado Springs, CO 80901 <br />RE: Estimated Cost of GEC West Pit Drainage Repairs <br />Dear Dr. Corley: <br />pt cow <br />ti~ _ a <br />„~: O <br />~ /8 !6 <br />Roy ROmer <br />Governor <br />Michael B Long <br />D rvis ion Dirednr <br />In your letter of September 7, 1993 you asked how the discrepancy <br />between the Division's $18,500 estimated cost for West Pit work and <br />Phil Kessler's $33,000 estimate occurred. <br />Apparently, the Division estimate was based on earth volumes and <br />ditch design parameters included in your October 6, 1992 letter to <br />Mr. Hugh Bailie of Harrison Western. I do not have any of the <br />details of how the $18,500 estimate was derived. Mr. Kessler's <br />estimate for the same work was approximately $29,000. The <br />remaining $4000 in his estimate was for erosion repairs in the West <br />Pit. I cannot say what factors determined Mr. Kessler's estimate. <br />As discussed recently, the 1 <br />of work in the West Pit by ~ <br />and the existing drainage <br />channels will be installed <br />adjacent watershed through <br />pond and into the Magpie <br />estimated the cost of this <br />)ivision is planning to alter the scope <br />removing the sediment pond, the culvert <br />channel in the pit. New drainage <br />to route runoff from the pit and the <br />the approximate present location of the <br />Creek Diversion.
