Surnmarv
There are a few changes to the sites which occurred after the survey was completed and maps were drawn, which
will be shown on the upcoming annual report maps. This is acceptable. For years during which there were no
onsite changes, no updated maps need to be submitted.
I appreciate your historical listing of outstanding issues and problems which are being addressed, and will check the
file to ensure that all adequately corrected problems are so noted in the record.
Using my field observations, your latest accounting of onsite conditions, and the details of the existing reclamation
plan, I will begin to hammer out some cost figures for the bond calculation which I am required to update. My
correspondence with you during this process will take the same form of our present exercise, i.e., a preliminary
estimate will be sent to you for discussion and tweaking, and then a final figure will be calculated which is the most
reasonable at the time. This figure will of course be affected by any further reclamation or new disturbance, and by
changes approved under permit revision. If a bond increase is needed, it must be submitted within 60 days of the
Division's notification.
The main task at this time is the boundary reco~guration. During that time, while we are working toward
finalizing the reconfiguration, Iwill work on an updated bond estimate. After the boundary issue is satisfactorily
completed, we can finalize the reclamation costs, with or without any newly proposed changes. That should
include preparing updated reclamation maps.
I appreciate your diligence during this consuming process. The results so faz aze very good. I look forward to
receiving the requested responses and to working with you on the upcoming changes. As always, please do not
hesitate to contact me if there are any questions. I can be reached at the Division's Durango field office: 701
Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970/247-5193 or fax 970/247-5104.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: set of 4 preliminary maps for Sunday Mine
Ec: Harry Posey, DMG
A:~SUnday maps bdrys/rco
