STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
~~~
S~0 / p
o~`~ FF6 ~®~~~~
°oi r! y
~~e ~!`//1J,r,
did
oar
Ce~~a
B~.
DIVISION OF
MINERALS
Febmary 14, 2003
Terry V. Wetz
International Uranium (USA) Corp.
Independence Plaza, Suite 950
1050 Seventeenth St.
Denver, CO 80265
1! ~~
Re: Sunday Mine, Permit M-1977-285, Pemut Maps and Problem Corrections.
Dear Mr. Wetz,
GEOLOGY
RECLAMATION
MINING•SAFETY
Bill Owens
Governor
Greg E. Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Acting Division Director
I have reviewed the latest packet of permit maps for the Sunday Mine, which were revised based on recent surveys
and our current discussions. I am pleased with the results; these new maps are very good. You included detailed
commentary about nearly every feature, which is appreciated. Finally, you provided a list of activities which have
been performed toward final reclamation and problem correction, the clean up and maintenance of the site and its
facilities, and you proposed certain activities toward correcting outstanding problems. I will try to respond to as
many of these points as necessary in this letter.
Preliminary Maps
As you will note I have enclosed the set of four preliminary maps, which your new maps replace, with this letter.
This office received them with the anderstanding that they were for our review and comment, only for purposes of
generating final version maps, and would be returned to you upon receipt of the final maps. They did not become
part of the file for this permitted operation.
It is also understood that certain features appearing on these final maps have been changed, either through
maintenance or removal, and that future annual report maps will show those changes, plus any other changes made.
Thank you for providing two sets of the new maps, since it will be valuable for both our Denver office and this field
office to have complete sets.
General Location Map - Figure 1
This map, while not being limited to depicting only the Sunday Mine permitted azea, is valuable for providing a
spatial sense of the locations of the five separately-permitted mines in this group. I anticipate that other final
version maps will be forthcoming for the other mines, which will replace the preliminary maps we currently hold.
It is probably not necessary to provide additional copies of this Figure 1 with those future submittals, but reference
could be made to this map if necessary. This is up to you. The Division will place this Figure I into the Sunday
Mine permit file, for future reference.
The main changes made to this final version appeaz to be the different road designations, the complete labeling of
features, additional detail correlating to the public land survey grid, addition of claim boundaries pertaining to the
Sunday Mine, and the addition of a proposed affected area boundary. These are all positive changes and make the
map much more usable.
