Mr. Richard Mills -2-
Friday, August 1, 1980 -
Monday, August 4, 1980 -
Wednesday, August 6, 1980 -
August 25, 1980
Arrangements made to
have sub-contractor
equipment made available
for immediate abatement
of violation. Method
of abatement discussed
with Engineering staff
in Denver office.
Decision is made to fully
abate the violation by
removing eight feet of
the fill from the haul
road and salvaging the
top soil underneath.
Abatement work on haul
road began.
Abatement work completed.
The top soil which had
been covered by the fill
was removed and moved to
the active top soil stock-
pile. The road was
replaced.
Northern would like to emphasize the fact that it takes this
situation very seriously, and we feel that we attempted to
deal with this violation in the most expeditious manner
available to us.
We have completed the abatement at a.cost of approximately
$5,000. The high cost was partially due to the fact that
we chose to abate it immediately with a subcontractor doing
the work rather then waiting until our own equipment was
available. The abatement period was ninety days and we
completed it in less than five working days. We hope you
will take this into consideration.
We look forward to discussing this with you at the informal
conference.
si~~~~4~RP~.~
Gerald T.
