Check Dams
The check dams in the center ridge drainage were also visually surveyed to determine if more
rack needs to be placed at the end of the aprons, or if any need repair. Gullies were noticed at
the end of several aprons. The fallowing check dam apron areas will be repaired:
1,2,4,5,7,8,10,12,13, and 16. The other check dams do not need any work done to them.
Goat Treil Concentrated Flow Features
Trensects were measured et the Uttee constnrcted down drein areas along the Goet Trail Access
Road. The location of these transacts in plan view ere shown on Exhibit 1, Sheet 2 of 2. The
channels were measured across monuments placed during the lest survey and compared to
evaluate erosion activity. These surveys are shown graphically in Appendix 8. Each of the
three drelnage areas had cross section measurements taken at two locations.
The cross sections show that Feature 1 has degraded slightly in cross section (up dip) end In fact
has shown some agredatian in cross section 2 (down dip}. The profile on cross section number
1 remained rounded instead of cutting a deep "V" es noted in the 1993 monitoring. This channel
although a little deeper in the uphill section appears stable. Feature 2 shows much the same
relationship es that of number 1, with the upper section showing some moderete depth increase
end the lower section rounding slightly and decreasing in depth. Feature number 2 has been
effected by some upslope disturbance associated with dismantiirtg of the belUine structure.
Feature 3 also shows degradation on cross-section 1, but cross-section 2 only shows a small
channel movement horizontally with the side slopes lessening in grade.
ARhough some movement was noticed in the upper section of all three features, no mRlgatian on
these features are proposed for this year. To repair the minor changes noted in the cross
sections would cause much more disturbance than the original hydraulic movement.
Normal rr~intenance activities of cleah out of the rock structures upstream of these cross
sections was done this spring, but because of reclamation activities along the road aril belUine
will need to be done again either in the summer or fall.
CORRECTIONAL MEASURES AND METHODS SUMMARY
Based on the data collected during this 1996 Inventory following are areas to receive repair
activities during the 1996 field season.
Moffat Aree Block 3:
This block has several gullies toward the base of the steepest section of the hill above the
road that is being left to access the Moffat Sediment Pond The lowest section of this
bock will be disturbed to blend with the road. during this construction and topsolling
activity the gullies on this section of the hill will be repaired, using a dozer, and
reseeded using the approved reclamation seed mix.
16
