• Conversation Record
1-4-93 with Terry Ireland, USFWS Grand Junction, CO
Subject: Salt Creek Mining Company's McClane Canyon Mine
The USFWS previously issued a Final Biological Opinion for the
McClane Canyon Mine on 4-16-92. The USFWS concurred with OSM's
determination that the annual water depletion from the Colorado
River "may affect" the endangered Colorado squawfish
(Ptvchocheilus lucius), humpback chub (Gila cwha), bonytail chub
(Gila elegans), and the razorback sucker (XVrauchen texanus).
The USFWS determined that the project was not likely to
jeopardize the continued existence of the endangered fishes if
the company made a contribution to the Recovery Implementation
Program for Endangered Fishes of the Upper Colorado River Basin.
Mr. Ireland stated that no additional species of concern have
been listed by the USFWS since the issuance of the Biological
opinion. Therefore, no additional Section 7 consultation is
required at thicc~~s time.
Gregory K. Reed;~dlife Biologist
•
