*~; <br />;? ~,~;, <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR ~>;:'~~_~ <br />BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT <br />GRAND JUNCT YON RESOURCE AREA <br />764 HORIZON DRIVE ~~ .( ..~ , <br />GRAND JUNCTION, COLOAADO 81506 _ <br />~~;^ <br />3480 <br />DEC Z ' 1991 t7-6BO) ,f.:,~;,~,. <br />:..,.:- <br />Memorandum <br />To: Deputy ~Adminiatrator, Western SupporC Center <br />From: Area Manager <br />Subject: Modification of Mining Plan, NcClane Canyon Nine, Federal Coal Leases <br />C-0125437, C-0125439, C-0125515 <br />The solid minerals staff at this office has reviewed the resource recovery and <br />protection plan (R2p2) portion for the life-of-mine mining plan covering the <br />McClane Canyon Hine. <br />The staff has worked directly with salt Creek Mining Company personnel to correct <br />any deficiencies or omissions in the life-of-mine R2P2 and hoe determined that <br />the A2P2 wiil achieve maximum economic recovery and is in compliance with the <br />Mineral Leasing Act and ell applicable 43 CFR 3480 requirements. <br />The Federal lands unsuitability analysis under 43 CFR 3461 ie included in the <br />Grand Junction Resource Area Resource Management Plan. The McClane Canyon coal <br />leases and adjacent lands are considered suitable For leasing end mining. <br />Special stipulations for protecting other resource values are included in the <br />coal leases. <br />Accordingly, approval of the life-of-mine mining plan covering the McClane Canyon <br />Hine is recommended. <br />A copy of our technical analysis attached. <br />Attachment V <br />l~: •:, <br /> <br />
