Noise levels will be further
reduced as mining progresses because, ae the quarry depth
increases, the effective berm height is also increased.
8.2 Haul Truck Operations
25 ton haul truck noise levels fall within acceptable levels as
set by State Law. Compliance with the Department of Health speed
limit (required at the existing quarry) will reduce noise levels
an additional 3 dB.
9.0 Conclusions
The moat significant noise impacts of the Winkler Quarry will occur
during initial Bite preparation and are due to the operation of
equipment with Back-Up Beepers. These impacts will be temporary and of
a short duration. The noise levels will remain below state
requirements.
Stationary equipment will require berme to mitigate noise levels,
similar to the ones used at the Ditmar Quarry. Once berme are
installed, the noise levels will fall well below the state guidelines.
It ie assumed that drilling and blasting operations will use accepted
noise mitigation practices (i.e. blast blankets, drill enclosures).
Haul truck operations yield acceptable noise levels from 25 ton trucks,
providing speeds are at or below 30 mpY..
