Box 229 <br />Boulder, CO 80306 <br />RE: Status of Bourg Strip mine, File ~-81-021 <br />Dear Mr. Patten: <br />Througn recent negotiations with the Office of Surface Mining we are able to <br />offer you the opportunity to place your operations which are currently <br />undergoing final reclamation, in temporary cessatton status rather than <br />permanent cessation. Untler temporary cessation we would be required to <br />conduct a quarterly complete inspection. Any partial inspections would be <br />done at our discretion, probably conincident with any work you needed to <br />conduct during the summer months. Under permanent cessation we are required <br />to inspect monthly. <br />If you are interested in changing to temporary cessation status please suomit <br />a letter stating so, and addressing Rule 4.30. <br />If you have any questions please feel free to call me or the lead specialist <br />for your mine. <br />Sincerely, <br />Susan J.
