<br />Introduction <br />This document was prepared by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (the <br />Division) for the Rimrock Coal Mine, Permit Renewal No. 1 (RN-O1), Permit No. C-89-074. <br />It has three main components: <br />1) the proposed decision to APPROVE WITH CONDITIONS the permit renewal <br />application; <br />2) a summary which includes a history of the review of the permit application, a <br />description of the environment affected by the operation, and a description of <br />the mining and reclamation plan, and; <br />3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made as required by the <br />Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. <br />The Division received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal mining and <br />reclamation operations at the Rimrock Coal Mine on March 27, 1995. The application was <br />submitted by the operator, Landmazk Reclamation, Inc. The mine is permitted by Rimrock <br />Coal Company, a sole proprietorship, but will be operated by Landmark Reclamation, Inc. <br />The mine is located on private lands within Las Animas County, Colorado and can be <br />generally described as located in portions of the NW 1/4 of Section 29, T33S, R63W of the <br />Sixth Principle Meridian. <br />The Rimrock Mine has been reclaimed. Operations during this permit term will be for <br />monitoring and minor reclamation activities only. <br />1 <br />
