DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
D Monte Pascoe. Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON Director
Ric hartl D Lamm
Governor
•
T0: Bob Liddle
FROM: Jerry Zimpfer
RE: Mt. Gunnison Mine No. 1, Request to Terminate Monitoring of
Agricultural Usage and Productivity of the North Fork Alluvial
Valley Floor.
GATE: May 19, 1983
I have reviewed Anaconda Minerals Company's request to terminate
monitoring of agricultural usage and productivity on the North Fork of
the Gunnison Alluvial Valley Floor following the submittal of the results
of the 1982 survey. Given the operation's demonstration that the
operation would not cause material damage to those waters supplying the
alluvial valley floor, the request is appropriate. (See my March 25,
1982 memo to Rich Dominque).
The operator should submit the 1982 survey to the Division for review.
If the survey is satisfactory, then additional agricultural usage and
productivity monitoring could be suspended. Agricultural monitoring
would again be required if the hydrologic monitoring program indicated
its necessity.
cc: Jim Pendleton
Ed Bischoff
/th
Uoc.
