Box 111
Silt, Colorado 81652
RE: Eastside Mine, (C-84-063}, Public Correspondence File
Request for Bond Review
Dear Mr. McKennis:
In response to your letter dated June 18, 1991, the Division has briefly
reviewed its calculation of the Eastside reclamation cost estimate.
Detailed calculations were last performed in con, lunction with the permit
renewal in June, 1990. Pursuant to Rute 3.02.2(4), we will again review
the bond liability during the mid-term review in approximately
December, 1992.. The reclamation plan is described on pages 107-114
of the Eastside permit application. Our estimate is based upon the
presumption that this approved plan would be implemented b.y the state
in the event of permit revocation.
The most recent calculations show the following direct costs which would be
incurred by the Division in reclaiming the site:
- Earthwork. $ 8, 748.00
- Portal/Shaft Sealing 9,200.00
- Structural Demolition. 8,168,00
- Revegetation 6,157,00
- Mobilization/Demobilization. 400.00
TOTAL DIRECT COSTS ~ 32,6 3.00
Please note that the figure for structural demolition includes $1,140.00 for
removal of facilities at the Rifle Loadoi7t. The loadout was never constructed
and is not part of the permit.
Indirect costs in the calculations include liability insurance, contractor
performance bond, superintendent costs, contractor profit, and fees for
contract preparation and pro, iect management by the Division.
.TOTAL INDIRECT COSTS $ 8,145.70
DIRECT COSTS 32,673.00
TOTAL COST OF RECLAMATION 4 ,818.70
