_ . ~:..
The extra mining they are going to do will undoutedly
bring a lot of coal dust to the air and to the reservoir
which is also an irrigation reservoir for all of Silt Mesa.
Right now there are no more than 2 semi-trucks a day from
the mine. In the past this mine has always been a pick-up
truck operation selling coal locally for home heating.
We feel that 64 round trips a day is in our minds not
right. Why should they be allowed to sell their coal at the
expence of all our life styles, pr operyt values, and
possibly even our lives? These ore not state highways, they
are small rural county roads that many people live on. We
feel that there are many problems that need to be solved
before anyone should even be allowed to haul 200,000
tons of anything on these roads.
A representative of Eastside Coal Company has already
stated publicly that their intention is 'to end up with a
permit for 2.2 million tons per year. The effect it would
have on this quiet, rural community is mind boggeling.
In short, we sincerely urge you NOT to grant Eastside
(or whoever may buy this mine in the future) the application
to mine more coal. There are too many problems that need to
be worked out before this mine in this community can safely
produce any more coal.
Thank you for considering our views.
/ ~// ~~
~~:~ ;
~; ~ ~
~~~
{/~//yf////
Co- ~~V ~.
