O. Box 980
Gypsum, CO 81637
Dear Mr. Onorofskie:
We have reviewed the Eagle-Gypsum Company proposal for an aerial
ropeway to transport gypsum rock over I-70 to the wallboard plant
in Gypsum, Colorado. After conferring with the Federal Highway
Administration we have determined that such a use of airspace can
be granted. Our policy on granting use of CDOT right of way will
require an analyses and an annual lease agreement for the ropeway
system. A copy of the lease policy is enclosed.
We are pleased to note that none of the ropeway towers would be
located on our right of way nor would any access from I-70 be
necessary for maintenance purposes. The 30 feet of minimum
clearance proposed would meet our design standards. Construction
of the aerial ropeway can be approved through a utility permit.
The lease agreement would authorize the operation and use of the
system. Upon finalization of plans and confirmation of intent to
construct the system, CDOT will proceed with the lease analyses
and utility permit process.
Very truly yours,
R. P.
