• • 3-8
'the sedimentation uond area will be backfilled and reyraded
following completion of reclamation activities associated
with the bench area. The ephemeral channels which will have
formerly crossed the area will be reestablished (See Figure
3.3-1) In other areas, only minor regrading will be undertaken
to smooth the surface following removal of facilities, and
to reestablish contours that are suitable to intended oost
mining uses.
All grading will be done on the contour where possible. Where
such an operation would not provide a safe situation for the
equipment operator, quick growing grasses will be established
by broadcasting for protection against erosion and siltation.
Such final grading will provide .for furrows created by the
dozer tracks (several inches deep), which in combination with
the rough state of the reclaimed slope and the mulch (See
Section 3.4.4) will enhance moisture retention and reduce erosion
during reclamation to the extent practicable.
All slopes will be compatible with the configuration and
selected land use as described in Section 4.1.2.3. The bench
area will be reclaimed to the extent possible. In removing
excess material from the bench area for the improvement of
the road on the canyon floor, and to maintain, to the extent
possible, original conditions of the ephemeral channel,
available material for shaping the site was reduced; however,
it is presently anticipated that sufficient material is avail-
able Erom the bench area face-up, along with material used
to create the lower bench level which will allow the return
of the area to a condition that i.s suitable for the intended
6/10/83
