Mr. Philip Solseng, P.E. -Change Order No. 3 -Modifications to the Approved Construction Documents
October 22, 2007
Page 2 of 2
Replacing three feet of course drain aggregate in the downstream blanket drain with a total of six
feet of fine filter aggregate. This modification was originally proposed in the design submittal.
4. The cast-in-place intake structure will be modified to a pre-cast structure to accelerate the
construction schedule.
Based on our review of the Change Order as presented in your letter dated October 17, 2007, we
find that the proposed changes and modifications acceptable and approved effective as of the date of this
letter with the following comment:
This office is not in favor of using sandstone for riprap protection along the upstream slope of the
dam. However, the prevailing winds aze away from the upstream slope and the addition of the
riprap is an improvement over the existing conditions (no erosion protection). The owner should
be made awaze that the use of this material may require increased maintenance to ensure that the
upstream slope is adequately protected.
Please inform the general contractor of this change to the approved construction documents. All
revisions to the approved plans and specifications as a result of this design change should be made on the
construction documents prior to submitting the "As-Constructed" documents to our office at the
completion of the project.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to contact Paul Perri in our
Denver office at (303) 866-3585 ext. 8274. We look forward to our continual work with you on this
construction project and to achieving a successful completion of this modification project.
Sincerely,
~~~~~~~-
~Jack G.
