Walther
Executive Dvennr
Michael B. long
Division Director
The Division has finished its review of Bowie Resources Limited's (BRL) submittal of compaction data at
the West Mine reclamation site, The compaction data covers a time span from November 20, 2000 through
April 25, 2001. The data shows that all of the sites that were tested had relative compaction densities above
or, in one instance, equal to 85 percent and at moisture contents above optimum moisture contents.
In reviewing the permit text, it was discovered that permit text page 60 of Section 2.05 in Volume 1. needs
to be revised to show that the relative compaction is to be at 85 percent, not 90 percent, of the maximum
standard Proctor density.
Also, the Division understands [hat BRL will provide stability analyses for the critical sections when the
backfilling and grading work is completed at the West Mine.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me.
Sincetety, ~ Q
Jo eph .
