COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & ENV/RONMENT -Water Qtmliry Control Division
Rationale -Page 6 Permit No. COR-040000
VI. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PERMIT
Prohibition on Non-stormwater Discharl!es
The list of allowable non-stormwater discharges has been increased to include uncontaminated compressor
condensate, irrigation drainage, lawn watering, and air conditioner condensate. These have been determined to be
insignificant sources of water pollution, and do not need to be covered under an individual discharge permit.
B. Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) Requirements
The purpose of a SWMP is to identify passible pollutant sources to stonnwater and to set out best management
practices that, when implemented, will reduce or eliminate any possible water quality impacts. A SWMP shall be
developed and implemented for each site covered by this permit. The SWMP must be prepared in accordance with
good engineering practices. (The plan need not be completed by a registered engineer.) The Division has a
guidance document available on preparing a SWMP.
The plan identifies potential sources of pollution (including sediment) which may reasonably be expected to affect the
quality of stormwater discharges associated with mining or retnediation operations. In addition, the plan describes
practices which will be used to reduce the pollutants in stonmvater discharges from the mining ar retnediation
operation, and to assure compliance with the terms and conditions of this permit. Facilities must implement the
provisions of their SWMP as a condition of this permit.
SWMPs that were prepared in accordance with requirements in the original version of the permit need not be
amet:ded to conform to this format.
Submittal of the SWMP is not automatically required under this permit. However, the Division tray require submittal
upon request, and review the SWMP and require additional treasures to prevent and control pollution. It is the
Division's intent to request submission of such repots on a selective basis. See Pan I.B. of the permit for a more
detailed description of SWMP requirements for active mines and Pan I. C of the permit for Inactive mines and
renediation projects.
SWMP For Active Mining Operations - Contems
a. Description of mining activities
b.
