Long
Division Director
The Division has received the 1992 field season progress report for the West Ridge hydrologic
reconstruction area. Appendix 4.6-M of the Edna Ntine permit states that during the 1992 field
season (June through September), the lower portion of Terrace 6 will be installed, and thereafter
approximately three check clams will be completed each month. With the completion of eleven
check dams and [he lower portion of Terrace 6, it would appear that the project is essentially
on schedule.
Based on inspections during the past summer, the check dams appeared to be effective in
reducing the velocity of runoff in the Center Ridge -West Ridge Draw, resulting in reduced
erosion in the draw. The dams appeared to have been constructed as designed, but will be
verified by the Division next summer. I would like to add that it was apparent that care was
taken to ensure that the dams were installed with minimal disturbance to reclaimed areas.
[f you have questions or are in need of additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,

Susan L Morrison
Reclamation Specialist
SLM\110492B.WP
