EII~worth <br />Sall WrM1ar ' <br />The Bureau of"Land Manage- <br />ment (BLM) will hold a public <br />hearing to discuss the Somerset <br />Mining Company's lease applica- <br />tion in the community center room <br />at Paonia town hall, 214 Grand <br />Ave., on Monday, April 27, at 7 <br />p.m.. <br />The company has applied to <br />mine a 1,350 acre area adjacent to <br />the Sanborn Creek Mine in Gunni- <br />son County, and will discuss the <br />potential impact oP the project. <br />The BLM has prepared an eco- <br />nomic assessment for the coal lease <br />agreement and will discuss it at the <br />hearing also. <br />Other items to be discussed <br />include possible actions and alter- <br />natives by the BLM, the method oC <br />mining to be employed to obtain <br />the maximum economic recovery <br />of the coal and the methods of <br />determining the fair market value <br />of the coal to be offered. <br />Written comments about the <br />application will be taken by the <br />BLM until May 11. <br />Comments may be sent to Allan <br />Belt, Uncompahgre Basin <br />Resource Area Manager, 2505 <br />Townsend Ave., Montrose, CO <br />81401.
