iiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiii
989
Dana Prijatel
4712 Turnberry Drive
Lawrence KS 66047
3 April 1995
Mr. Randy Price
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver CO 80203
Dear Mr. Price,
gECEI VE,~
ApR t76 1995
Div;g;on of Minerals ~ OeG~o9;
I am writing in reference to our telephone conversation on this date. I am very
concerned that Basin Resources, Inc., of Weston, Colorado, intends to do some
exploratory drilling for its mining operation on our property. Their chosen site is
near two springs that are perennial springs and not seasonal. We are very
concerned about the destruction they may cause. I am enclosing all of the
papers they sent us and a map of our property with their intended well site and
our springs labeled.
At no time does the mining company acknowledge the springs are there much
less that they are a year round water source for the wild life in the area. It is our
intent to file for the water rights on these two springs and keep them a habitat for
the wild life in the area.
Under Basin Resources, Inc., attachment (5A), I have underlined their claim that
all of the water is ephemeral in the area and this is not so. Our springs run all
year round.
According to the papers Basin Resources filed with the Department of Natural
Resources, Mined Land Reclamation Division, page (3), drilling would be done
between 1/96 and 1/97 and the designation of the well is NM 29.
It is our contention that they should not be permitted to drill in the area of our
springs. It just doesn't make since for them to take the chance of destroying a
perennial water source in an area that is so arid.
Your prompt attention would be greatly appreciated. If you have further
questions please contact me at my home, 913-865-2678.
Si cerely,
~2~~
na Prijatel
