Dept of Natural Resources
Dear Ms. Emrich:
As you requested the previous winter, the Colorado Yampa Coal
Company (CYCC), submitted an overall Topsoiling Plan for the mine. This
map included areas to be stripped of topsoil, areas to be backfilled and
graded prior (topsoil laydown) to topsoiling, and areas to receive
topsoil redistribution from live handle and stockpiles.
In order to utilize our equipment in the most efficient manner and
facilitate the mine topsoil movement program, CYCC has been concentrating
regrading and topsoiling efforts in Areas 7, 10, 31, 51, and mine 3. The
concentration of regrading and topsoiling in the above areas expedites
the movement of topsoil in stockpiles and stripping areas ahead of the
mining progress during good weather. This concentration also causes a
delay in grading of the final pit in Areas 9 and 41. Backfilling and
grading of the final pit in Area 9 and 41 is scheduled to be completed
during the winter of 1984-85. Topsoiling of these areas will be
concurrent with the regrade operations, or as weather permits, with the
topsoil coming from stockpiles in those areas.
If I can be of any information, please call.
Sincerely,
David McMindes
DM/sk
cc: G.
