(AAI), made a site
visit to the Trapper Mine to examine a large landslide that had occurred over the weekend of
October 8, 2006, in the G-Pit and K-Pit area of the mine. A trip report was issued to document
the observations from a geotechnical and mining perspective and to provide a discussion on
likely conditions leading to the event. Since this site visit, modeling analysis of G-Pit stability
has been completed.
The purpose of this report is to provide the modeling details and analysis results. The
results documented in this report (1) show our understanding of conditions leading to landslide,
(2) will help guide future geotechnical investigation activities and mine planning activities
associated with mining in this area, and (3) demonstrate our confidence in being able to predict
the behavior of the next phase of mining the G-Pit area.
This report contains only preliminary conclusions from analyses since no new
geotechnical property information has been gathered since the event. Field observations
supporting analysis results are included by reference to the previous trip report' where
appropriate. Results and recommendations from this work were originally presented in an
interim report on stability analyses addressing Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mines, and
Safety (DBMS) questionsZ without any of the modeling details presented in this report.
This report is organized into three main sections. A description of the model and its
inherent assumptions are presented first. Next the results are presented. The final section
I Agapito Associates, Inc.
